Singing layers surround an empty pain Living isolated within a crowd of breath An assertive sleep existing with such noise Worn souls that fail to make sincere contact Draping masks into stickly puddles Heartache and certain boredom Banal wit too opaque for comfort Ubiquitous player shared by the unaware Tired and bitter with time's rounded paper Alone and hidden though centered in a common reality
